Lugano Living Lab has accompanied the digitalization of the LuganoCard, from requirements analysis, technological scounting, identifying and implementing new solutions. The smart use of blockchain technology has also allowed the creation of a point loyalty system, with benefits for those who buy and sell.
The project is part of the City of Lugano’s commitment to integrating technology into the life of the city’s community and the operations of small and medium-sized businesses in the area. The Municipality’s strategy for the promotion of digital transition – defined by the 2018-2028 Development Lines – pursues two modes: on the one hand, information and training and, on the other, support for change by launching initiatives to accompany online sales, such as the chilometometrozero.ch portal, activated during the lockdown period. The platform has meanwhile also been adopted by Bellinzona, Chiasso, Locarno and Mendrisio.
During the health emergency last summer, the City also created the PrenotaLugano platform, followed in September by the MyLugano app: residents and guests have the possibility to buy tickets to cultural, entertainment and sports events in the municipal facilities, while security measures such as tracing are guaranteed.
The new development of the MyLugano app is dedicated to small and medium enterprises active in the sales sector (shops, businesses, cultural, sports, service and leisure activities, etc.) and consists in the digitalization of the LuganoCard and the creation of a point loyalty system, with benefits for those who buy and sell. The app will thus also have a space dedicated to shopping, with a real free digital showcase for partners that will be able to contribute – this is the hope – to promoting purchases in the city. Lugano will also guarantee the digital accompaniment of its partners by collaborating in the development and management of the digitisation process. The aim is to allow to approach digital to all those who for lack of resources or skills cannot do it autonomously.
