The New Chameleons: simulation as a paradigm for the digital humanities
What frontiers and challenges do so-called ‘transformers’ open up for the digital humanities? On the one hand, LLMs, chatbots, algorithmic assistants and AI ‘secret agents’ enable new experiments between simulation and creativity, for the regeneration of the past and the design of the future in the humanities. On the other, they impose a critical reflection to ensure that these increasingly ‘intelligent’ tools are compatible - or ‘alignable’ - with the objectives of a digital humanism that does not renounce the cognitive and ethical values consubstantial to traditional humanistic thought.
